Five countries (Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland and France) will participate in this 13th edition of Eurobrune, with a total of 70 Brown Swiss animals in competition (20 european heifers and 50 french cows), and 10 animals at the auction sale Opti'brune.
The “BROWN SWISS” day is now usually on Friday morning at Sommet de l’Elevage. The following events will take place on the dairy show ring :
- - European contest for young judges (18-25 years old). 2 persons per country

50 milking cows coming from all regions of France : Centre, Pyrénées, Western part, Eastern part, and also Rhône region

The Brown breed in Europe is the 2nd specialized dairy breed. It has about 600 000 cows in milk recording, and more than 350 bulls tested per year. With a very active European Federation, the race leads many files in common : European single scoring card introduction in 2008, website and brochure to promote the breed, harmonisation of classifiers and European judges, common research project Intergenomics, etc.. France is a very involved member, despite its smaller population of brown cows, which is increasing every year
After the success of the EUROBRUNE show in 2009 at Sommet de l’Elevage, the Brown breed is back in the spotlight at Clermont Ferrand. This event has become a major place for the breed in France, who knows such a development in the region. Departement “Cantal” is now the 3rd department staffing nationally. Characteristics of the breed, productive high-quality milk cheese, and endowed with longevity and an outstanding docile temperament, they are in high demand. Breeders wishing to acquire Brown animals will have the opportunity to access through Opti'brune sale the best genetics from France but also from all other European countries participating to Eurobrune.
